Tunis-Carthage airport to Hammamet: the 2026 transfer guide

Hammamet and its larger sibling Yasmine Hammamet are the most popular beach destinations for international visitors landing in Tunis. The transfer from Tunis-Carthage airport (TUN) to Hammamet is straightforward, but small mistakes, the wrong queue, an unverified driver, the wrong toll route, can turn a 70-minute drive into a stressful start to your holiday.

How far is Hammamet from Tunis-Carthage airport?

Yasmine Hammamet is about 75 kilometres south of Tunis-Carthage airport, via the A1 motorway. Old-town Hammamet is closer, roughly 65 kilometres. With light traffic the drive takes 60 to 70 minutes; in summer Friday-evening traffic out of Tunis it can stretch to 90 minutes.

Booking versus the airport queue

We strongly recommend pre-booking your transfer. Pre-booked rides have a fixed fare that is shown before you confirm, the driver waits for you with your name, and you skip the airport rank entirely. Tourists landing late at night especially benefit, queues thin out and finding the right vehicle in the dark is harder.

What you can expect to pay

  • Standard sedan, 1-3 passengers: pre-booked rate from Tunis-Carthage to Hammamet.
  • Family van, 4-7 passengers with luggage: a flat upgrade to the sedan rate.
  • Tolls (about 4-5 TND) are typically included in the pre-booked fare.
  • Late-night surcharges may apply between 23:00 and 06:00 with some operators.
  • Tipping is appreciated but not expected; round up if the service was good.

Practical tips for arrival

After collecting your luggage, exit through the green channel and walk straight ahead, not into the kerb-side taxi rank on the right. The pre-booked drivers wait at the dedicated meeting area beyond the rank. Have your booking reference and driver's name on your phone. If you have not pre-booked, only use the official orange-yellow taxi rank and confirm the meter is on before leaving.

Pre-booking turns the most unpredictable hour of your trip into the most predictable. It is worth every minute you spent setting it up before flying.
